Baij Nath Temple -:
Baij Nath Temple, is situated at kausani a beautiful and charming tourist place in Uttrakhand.It is a 12th century temple on the banks of Gomti River at an elevation of 1126 mtr.
The temple holds significance because, according to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and Parvati were married at the confluence of River Gomati and Garur Ganga. Dedicated to SivaVaidyanatha, the Lord of Physicians, the Baijnath temple is actually a temples’ complex built by the Katyuri kings with the idols of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahma.The main temple that houses a beautiful idol of Parvati is chiseled in black stone. The temple is approached from the riverside by a flight of steps made of stones constructed by the orders of a Katyuri queen
Naina Devi Temple -:
The Temple of Shri Naina Devi Ji is situated on a hilltop in the Bilaspur Distt. of Himachal Pradesh in India. This famous temple is connected with National Highway No. 21. The temple at the top of the hill can be reached via road (that curves round the hill up to a certain point) and then by concrete steps (that finally reach the top). There is also a cable car facility that moves pilgrims from the base of the hill all the way to the top.
The hills of Naina Devi overlook the Gobind Sagar lake. The lake was created by the famous Bhakra-Nangal Dama
Binsar Mahadev -:
Binsar Mahadev temple is situated at an altitude of 2,480 meters ASL. It is about 22 km from Thalisain. Binsar Mahadev temple is famous for its archeological significance, being an ancient construction of 9th century. It is believed to be constructed in just one day. Though the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the sanctum also houses idols of Lord Ganesh and Goddesses Parvati and Durga
This Temple was constructed by King Kalyan Chand of Chand Dynasty.
Har Ki Pauri
Har Ki Pauri is a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar in Uttarakhand state in India. This revered place is the major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar. Literally, the Har means Lord Vishnu and paudi means steps. There is a large footprint of lord Vishnu on a stone wall, and hence it came to be known as Har Ki Paudi (Vishnu's Footprint).
It is believed that it is precise spot where the Ganges leaves the mountains and enters the plains. The ghat is on the west bank of Ganga canal through which the Ganges is diverted just to the north. Har ki pauri is also the area where thousands of pilgrims converge and the festivities commence during the Kumbha Mela, which takes place every twelve years, and the Ardh Kumbh Mela, which takes place every six.
Every day, Har Ki Pauri ghat witnesses hundreds taking a dip in water of Ganga. The place is considered very auspicious. Over the years the ghats have undergone major extension and renovation as the crowds increased in subsequent Kumbh Melas. Several temples have come up on the steps, most built in late 19th century.
Nanda Devi Temple -:
This 1000 years old temple dedicated to godesses Nanda Devi.Nanda Devi was the patron goddess of the Chand rajas of Almora.It is located in almora district of Uttrakhand.It is Built in the typical Kumaoni architectural style of stone temples, the Nanda Devi temple is a magnificent monument that has a stone amalaka or crown which is encircled by a wooden roof.
Nanda Devi is said to have been the Goddess revered by the kings of the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. She is believed to be the destroyer of evil. Fairs are held at Ranikhet, Almora and Nainital in honour of Nanda Devi and thousand of people participate in these fairs.
Tungnath Temple -:
Tungnath is one of the five and the highest Panch Kedar temples located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The Tunganath (literal meaning is lord of the peaks) mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. Located at an altitude of 3,680 mtr.The Tungnath temple is the highest Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is believed to be 1000 years old and is the second in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars.
The priest at this temple is a local Brahmin from Maku village, unlike the other Kedar temples where the priests are from South India, a tradition set by the 8th century Hindu guru Sankaracharya. It is also said that the Khasi Brahmins officiate as priests at this temple. During the winter season, the temple is closed and the symbolic image of the deity and the temple priests are moved to Mukunath.
